How to be a supplier

With approximately 60,000 product lines and a turnover of nearly £6 billion, we get a lot of interest from companies wishing to supply us.

Goods for resale

Our Quality Assurance team assess all products presented to them to ensure they meet our desired standards and to ensure that production facilities comply with all relevant laws and best practice.

We assess all suppliers to ensure that processes are in place to control the supply chain. This includes any third-party oveseas factory, any subcontractor, growers or even home-based workers.

For new suppliers, the quality assurance assessment is based on the following five points:

  • Research and development
  • Corporate responsibility policies
  • Quality management - including factory and product controls
  • After-sales service
  • Returns policies and procedures

Goods not for resale

Last year, we spent over £1 billion on goods not for resale (GNFR), ie the products and services we need to run our businesses, rather than those we sell to our customers.

Our Group Procurement team is constantly on the lookout for ways to make our operation more cost effective, and currently have many suppliers and service providers on their books.  These companies supply everything from paperclips to pallet trucks, and from paper for the Argos catalogue to the lorries that deliver to our customers' homes.

If you think you could help us in our quest to be ever more cost effective, please contact our Group Procurement team.
