Platform at Habitat

Habitat UK  |  Press release

Habitat announces a new design initiative.

As part of its mission to introduce remarkable design, Habitat is pleased to announce Platform at Habitat, a new design initiative and gallery space housed in the Habitat King's Road store. The newly-restored gallery space will present relevant and thought-provoking exhibitions open to the public during store hours and will provide a space for discussions, talks and other design related events.

Curated by Suzanne Trocmé, Platform at Habitate will initiate design ideas, make links with architects and designers, and serve as a space for brand creativity.

Starting her career in store development, London-born Suzanne has written for a number of international publications and is the author of design related books, 'Influential Interiors' and 'Fabric'. An industry expert in architecture and design, Suzanne has presented radio and television programmes in the US and UK and designed award-winning furniture collections. In addition, she has curated at the London Design Festival since 2009.

Platform at Habitat will launch on 10 May 2012, with the exhibition 'John Pawson: Framed'.

Extracting pairs of images from John Pawson's book 'A Visual Inventory', Platform pairs the architect's own photographs with Habitat's timeless white birch picture frames.

"In endorsing the product, Pawson exemplifies his own ideals of creating a narrative within a stringent framework," according to Suzanne.

Commenting on the new initiative, Habitat Managing Director Clare Askem said, "We are committed to investing in and developing Habitat, and this initiative re-asserts our position at the forefront of remarkable design. We are excited to launch Platform at Habitat and look forward to reflecting the inspiration and creativity through our products and designs."
