Home Retail Group Financial Services are delighted to announce that they are the proud winners of the prestigious Best Technology Initiative of the Year at The Card Awards ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, on the evening of Tuesday 2nd February 2010.

The Card Awards are organised by Card Partnerships Limited and with the main focus on raising the profile of best of breed programmes in this market.

Ivor Langley, general manager retail credit for Home Retail Group Financial Services said:”We are delighted to receive this award which is superb recognition from the UK Payment Card industry to both the project and business teams in Group Financial Services for their huge effort and great skill in delivering this major project within time and budget.”

The winning project replaced the entire account management system of the Argos and Homebase store cards with a brand new system. It was implemented to budget and time and delivered significant savings as well as allowing the business to deal with customers faster and more efficiently. The scale of the project, was enormous, with 3.5 million card accounts moved onto a new system, which is over a trillion bits of data.

Many of the judges have experienced similar migrations and expressed a huge respect for the project team at Home Retail Group. One of the judges commented: “We’ve all seen these types of projects fail to meet deadlines or budgets, this achieved both.”
