08 December 2006

Home Retail Group’s corporate responsibility policy has been recognised by leading trade magazine Retail Week by being short-listed for an award in the category.

Since launching in 1996, the Retail Week Awards have grown to become an important and eagerly awaited event in the retail calendar. In recent years Argos has been a winner several times but this is the first time Home Retail Group has been a finalist in the Corporate Social Responsibility category.

With 16 different categories the awards cover various different areas of retailing and are highly prized and very competitive.

Laurence Singer, corporate responsibility manager, said: “We are delighted to have been short-listed for the 2007 Corporate Social Responsibility Award. It is a significant achievement and is the result of great teamwork across the group. We will continue to develop strong links between CR and the commercial needs of the business to make it relevant and meaningful to our employees, our customers, our local communities and our shareholders.”

The winners of all categories will be announced at the award ceremony on Thursday 1st March 2007 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
