Eco Home from Homebase
04 July 2007
Homebase is launching a brand new campaign in-store and on-line called Eco Home. The Campaign brings together around 900 products in three different areas, water, energy and sustainability that have been identified as eco-friendly. Environmental impact is becoming increasingly important to Homebase customers and Eco Home is the new initiative to advise them about the environmental impact of products they purchase. The Homebase campaign is specifically designed to show how small changes can make a difference – giving customers a practical solution to the complex environmental problem.
All 310 stores in UK and ROI are involved in the campaign which supports and encourages customers to be environmentally aware.
In addition, Homebase is offering customers extra eco points to collect on their Spend and Save customer loyalty card from now until November every time they buy Eco Home products in store, including bags for life.
Charles Drewe, sustainability manager, said of the campaign: “We hope the Eco Home logo will make it easy for customers to identify products in-store. Our customers look to us for advice so we are also issuing a practical leaflet with quick, easy and simple steps to an eco-friendly home”.
In-store the products are identified with POS in the form of ‘bus stop’ stands, posters and shelf edge cards identifying products with its own Eco Home logo. By providing useful information and tips through point of sale Homebase believes it can help customers create a safe and eco-friendly home.
Charles added: “Eco home is one of many projects to help our customers and store colleagues. We are supporting it through staff training and communication packages and have made a special DVD to inform our colleagues so they can help customers. Many stores have already been leading the way with their own good working practices which are focused on reducing the amount of water and energy used and the waste produced across the store network. Internal staff campaigns have been encouraging Homebase colleagues to switch off electrical equipment and lighting when not in use and closing doors to reduce heat loss. Low energy light bulbs are now installed in lighting displays in-store and cistern bags to reduce water use in toilets”.
