Davina McCall launches fitness equipment at Argos
22 January 2010
Exercise enthusiast and TV personality Davina McCall has launched a new fitness range, exclusive to Argos.
Davina has been working with Argos buyers to design her own collection, helping to develop products and styles that give great results at fantastic value for money. Davina’s first ever fitness collection for the high street chain is available in the new Argos catalogue and features a range of cardio and toning equipment.
The beauty of this range is that you can have a great work out, all in the comfort of your own home. Products range from £4.99 to £149.99 and include everything from Dumbbells, to larger pieces of equipment such as a 2 in 1 Cycle and Cross Trainer.
Davina says: "I am really enthusiastic and excited about the new range. You can have a complete workout without having to leave your own home. The range suits people with little space, a busy schedule, and yet gives you all the benefits of a gym membership at fantastic value.”
Martyn Walker, Buyer of sports equipment at Argos says: “We are delighted to have a fantastic fitness fan like Davina on board. Collectively we have managed to create a wide range of products that not only reflect her personality, but equipment that is suitable for all types of fitness levels.”
The easy to store Folding bike is great value at just £79.99. If you’re looking for a simple piece of exercise equipment you can use at any time, an exercise bike makes the perfect choice. It will give your legs a great workout and also improve your cardiovascular fitness and stamina. By using your bike just a few times a week, you can improve the fitness of your heart, lungs and muscles. The folding bike is ideal for smaller homes as it can be easily hidden away out of sight.
If you’re looking for a low impact way to tone your upper body and your legs at the same time, then the Cross trainer is the perfect choice. The all-over workout burns calories by simultaneously exercising arms and legs, making cross trainers an ideal way to lose weight. The range of movement builds flexibility, and a few sessions a week on a cross trainer will improve your general aerobic fitness.
The Rowing action exerciser is another great way to trim and tone your body. Pressing with your legs while pulling the handles gives you a full body workout. Try to increase your reps after every session.
To improve your speed, endurance and to burn calories fast, why not try the Skipping rope or Aerobic step. Both lightweight and compact you can get a great cardiovascular workout with the simplest of equipment from less than £5.00.
A brilliant way to tighten your stomach, tone those arms and strengthen your shoulders and back is with the Twist board. You can improve your balance with the twist motion whilst slimming and toning those abs and hips. The board comes complete with an easy grip handle and fitness guide to help you achieve the best results possible.
An Exercise mat comes complete with durable foam cushions and is a perfect option for sit-ups, yoga and pilates.
To complete your workout, why not try the Pilates stretch bands or even the Gym ball which will allow you to stretch your upper and lower body all at the same time. Certain exercises can even help to slim your thighs and buttocks.
The range has come at a perfect time for all those ‘Get-Fit’ New Year’s resolutions and has everything you will need to kick-start a fun, fitness regime. It will be available in the new Argos catalogue (out Saturday) and online.

About the Partnership
The British Heart Foundation and Heart Children Ireland is the nominated charity partner of Home Retail Group, owner of the UK’s leading home and general merchandise retailers Argos and Homebase. After winning a staff vote in March 2008, the partnership began in July 2008 and will run for two years with a combined group fundraising target of £2million. Under the theme ‘Keeping Hearts Beating’, this is the first group-wide partnership Home Retail Group has ever had across its 1,000-plus retail outlets, distribution and head office functions. The key aim of the partnership will be the funding of defibrillators to support the communities in which we live and work.
