Argos wins multiple awards from RoSPA
11 April 2008

Argos is delighted to announce that multiple sites in the home retailer’s distribution network have again been recognised in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health & Safety Awards for 2007.
Health and safety manager, Abby Miller said: “Argos distribution centres have worked hard to achieve across the board recognition of their effort and we are extremely proud of the teams’ continued commitment at all the locations. The level of awards we have received is testament to the business’ determination to target health and safety throughout our organisation."
RoSPA is a nationally recognised award made as a result of professional, administrative adjudication under the supervision of an independent, expert panel, which is a sub-committee of the RoSPA National Occupational Safety and Health Committee (NOSHC). Seven Argos sites have reached the necessary level for gold awards and a further six for the silver awards.
To qualify for the awards the warehouses provide health and safety statistics for each location over a five year period, including all details on any reportable accidents or major injuries. The criteria for success would typically include an excellent occupational health and safety management system and a rigorous approach to occupational health.
Following adjudication the panel assesses whether the entry qualifies for an award which can be a merit, bronze, silver or gold standard.
The certificates will be presented at a gala dinner at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham on the 13th – 15th May, 2008 with entertainment provided by comedian Ed Byrne.
