Argos opens 700th store
26 November 2007
Argos will open its 700th store tomorrow in Mansfield. The store, in the Oak Tree Centre, features some of the most state-of-the-art retail technology and opens just in time for Christmas.
To celebrate the mighty milestone, Argos is inviting local school Windale Primary to design a cover for the iconic Argos catalogue. The lucky winner will be the envy of all their friends, as the prize is a highly sought after Nintendo Wii games console.
Pupils had the weekend to design their entry. The winner, who will be drawn tomorrow at 9am, will also have the honour of officially opening the store. A blown-up print of the winning design is to be displayed outside the store throughout December.
Windale pupils are not the only ones who stand the chance of winning a fantastic prize. To celebrate the 700th store opening, Argos is offering one fortunate customer £700 of vouchers to spend in store, as part of a grand prize draw.
The new Argos store has a 3,300 square foot customer area, has taken eight weeks to complete and employs 45 members of staff from the local area, both full and part time.
“With the opening of the 700th store Argos has reached a tremendous achievement. It is an honour that Mansfield is home to it.” said Chris Draycott, store manager.
He continued “Opening our new store today is really exciting for us. It allows us the opportunity to bring our customers the added convenience of purchasing locally, with a wide choice of products all at great value.”
