Argos trials Post Office® pick-up

29 September 2006

Argos has teamed up with participating Post Offices® in East Anglia to offer customers an even more convenient delivery service. The new trial service will allow customers to order Argos items from their local store, online, or by phone, and then pick up their goods at one of 189 Post Office® locations.

The trial begins in September and will run through to July 2007. The areas covered during the initial trial phase will be households in Postal Code areas NR1-NR35 (Norwich) and IP18-IP25 (Ipswich).

Almost any item that is available to take away from an Argos store can be ordered through Argos Post Office® Pick-Up, although the service is restricted to items weighing less than 30kg. All orders will be processed from Norwich Castle Mall store and delivered to local Post Offices ready to collect within 48 hours. The Post Office® branches will hold orders for up to 16 days to be picked up at consumers’ convenience.

Customers can track their order via the Parcel Force website which will indicate when items have arrived at the Post Office®. The Argos delivery price of £4.95 still applies, no matter how big the order.

The new trial will appeal to anyone who lives in remote areas who might have to travel to purchase items from stores or customers that don’t drive; for those who are too busy to visit a store and prefer to order and collect locally at a time convenient to them or those who prefers not to wait in for home delivery.
