Argos wins video games general retailer of the year
18 April 2006
Argos is celebrating recognition in the video games industry after it received a top accolade at last week’s glittering MCV awards. The ceremony was held in central London and hosted by Channel Four News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
The MCV Awards are the biggest awards in the video games industry and are voted for by retailers and manufacturers. Argos fought off competition from Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Comet in order to scoop the award which it had been twice short listed for in previous years.
Argos trading manager for video games, Scott Lynch, who collected the award was delighted with the result: “Following several years of significant share growth and some good commercial success in the video games market, it is a great accolade that the industry has recognised the strength that exists in our business for selling video games.”
