Double award win for Argos

17 March 2006

Argos is delighted to announce that it received two awards at last night’s Retail Week Awards held at The Gosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.

The glittering ceremony included the top awards for Argos in the Customer Services Initiative of the Year and Online Retailer of the Year categories. Argos was up against stiff competition from some of the leading names on the high street including PC World and the Carphone Warehouse. In the Online award, Argos beat competition from the likes of Tesco and Magestic Wine to collect the top accolade.

The Online Retailer of the Year award recognised the success of the Argos website, which allows customers to purchase products for home delivery and reserve products for collection in-store. The ability to link internet to store is truly a multi-channel offer.

“They simply do a better job than anyone else”, said the judges. “And what impresses is the way that it has developed a very rounded offer across all its channels, but with integration to the store.”

The Customer Services Initiative award acknowledged the ‘Find & Pick up and Instant Alert Service’. This enables customers to shop online or by telephone and get a text message when their item is ready for collection, meaning they only have to visit the store once.

The Retail Week Awards have grown in significance since their launch over ten years ago and are now an important and eagerly awaited event in the retail calendar. New categories, redefined criteria and a new online entry process have all contributed to a record number of entries and a truly high standard of entries across all categories.

Argos has now won nine Retail Week Awards in the last five years.
