Money for mobiles with Argos - Your used phone could earn you up to £100

27 January 2006

Argos and Easyfone Group have this week joined together in a new mobile phone initiative called envirofone, allowing customers to turn their old mobile ‘phones into cash or rewards and make a donation to Help the Hospices too! The target for the campaign in its launch year is £30,000 for the charity.

The bright blue freepost paper envelopes for returning ‘phones for recycling will be available in Argos stores from the launch of the new Spring/Summer catalogue this week. Customers could receive up to £100 for recycling their unwanted mobile ‘phones, depending on age, condition and model. They get a reward for themselves and a guaranteed £3.50 for Help the Hospices for each mobile ‘phone returned.

Throughout Europe, there is growing concern about the serious environmental problem caused by the build up of old and obsolete mobile phones. Each year, in the United Kingdom alone, over 10 million people upgrade their mobile phone to a newer model often with little thought of where the old ones might end up - usually in a landfill site.

envirofone aims to help tackle this problem whilst rewarding customers with substantial returns for trading in old mobile phones. Until now, nothing existed that guaranteed consumers this peace of mind whilst offering a real value for unwanted phones.

The mobile phones received are re-used wherever possible in areas around the world which need them. These areas usually have a poor landline infrastructure which creates a demand for the type of mobile technology some of us would class as obsolete. If mobile phones cannot be re-used, they are recycled in the appropriate manner.

To find out how much your unwanted phone is worth visit www.Envirofone.com, Select Help the Hospices from the list of charities and then you can turn your unwanted ‘phone into a cheque or credit on an Argos ecard. The ecard can then be used to buy products from any Argos store in the UK.
