Argos stars rise to the top

09 November 2005

Four members of staff from Argos have been recognised for their talent in the Retail Week Rising Star Awards.

In a glittering ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel on the 8th of November Emma Bolton King, a member of the Argos promotional team, was named Marketing Professional of the Year and Kerry Brayshaw, Argos’ audio and accessories buyer, was named Buyer and Merchandiser of the year. Parul Vadgama, who was project manager for the building of two new Home Delivery warehouses, was highly commended in the Supply Chain and IT department star of the Year category and Maldwyn Morgan, who managed Argos’ two new clearance stores, was short-listed in the most fiercely contested category of Store Management star of the Year.

The Argos winners were up against stiff competition from some of the leading names on the high street including Waterstones, Debenhams, New Look and Signet.

The awards, which were in association with Retail Week magazine, recognise top young professionals who demonstrate outstanding talent in their area of expertise. In each category of the awards, the judges were looking for specialist skills, initiative, commercial awareness and the ability to recognise and deliver benefits to the business.

The awards are judged by top industry experts who themselves come from some of the premium retailing businesses in the UK including Harvey Nichols, B&Q, Woolworths and Game.

Commenting on the success managing director, Sara Weller, said: “We are thrilled that our ‘up and coming’ colleagues in Argos have been recognised in this way, particularly as they have been measured against rising stars in retailing. We are very proud of their achievements.”
