Record price cuts in new Argos catalogue save consumers over £65 million

Argos , the multi-channel retailer, will launch its Spring/Summer 2005 catalogue tomorrow.  The new catalogue includes over 2,000 products which have been reduced in price representing cost savings to consumers of over £65 million versus previous catalogue.  This equates to average price decreases of 6.0% versus the same time last year.

This builds further on Argos’ record of reducing average prices in every one of the last 12 catalogues and is the highest reduction ever.

The new Spring/Summer catalogue is the largest ever with 13,300 lines, an increase of 3%.  The Argos Extra catalogue now covers 17,500 lines an increase of 3% and is currently available in well over 25% of all its stores.

The catalogue features hundreds of new products including homewares, electronics, beauty products, sports equipment and toys and for the first time includes items such as a 128 megabyte MP3 player for £29.99, a 4½ inch widescreen portable DVD player for £89.99, a Quad bike for under £800 and hot tubs from £1749.99.
