Argos supports GMTV in child safety campaign

06 September 2004

Argos is taking part in GMTV’s 2004 ‘Check It Fits’ campaign, stressing the importance of child car safety.

The high profile campaign, which runs from September 6-10, is involving a number of leading retailers to encourage parents to ensure that children are always in a properly fitted car seat or booster seat.

As Argos is one of the top five retailers in this market, it considered it is important to be involved in this campaign, as corporate responsibility manager, Laurence Singer explains: “Argos is very aware that it has a responsibility to ensure customers purchase from us with confidence and with as much information as possible. With such an essential campaign as child car safety, anything we can do to help customers ensure their child’s safety is of paramount importance to us.”

During the campaign Argos will be committed to reminding customers to check that the car seat fits their car, their child and is properly fitted before use – the key messages behind GMTV’s campaign. Customers will be reminded of this important message at point of sale and campaign tags will be fitted to all car seats supplied by Graco and Mamas and Papas. This is backed up by a car seat safety buyers guide on the Argos website.

“We are delighted to be one of GMTV’s partners in this campaign,” added Laurence Singer, “and we hope it will make a contribution in saving children’s lives.”
