We benchmark ourselves against a variety of internationally-recognised standards and indices. These enable us to monitor progress from year to year and against our peers and competitors.
We use a number of mechanisms to evaluate and publicly disclose our performance including the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, The Carbon Disclosure Project and the London Benchmarking Group’s measurement model which assesses the value of our community investment.
We have retained our place in the upper quartile of companies assessed in the 2015 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DSJI). Companies’ economic, environmental and social credentials must pass in-depth scrutiny to be included on the DJSI global list. The DSJI is based on the principle that sustainable business practices are critical to the long-term viability of companies.
We are proud to have maintained the Carbon Trust Standard during 2015 for the continued progress in reducing our operational carbon emissions.
The Carbon Trust standard is an independent assessment of our carbon emissions covering all aspects of our building energy use, commercial fleet and company car emissions.
We are benchmarked by FTSE4Good based on externally available information. The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. This year we have continued to be included on the FTSE4Good Index Series.
We use a number of mechanisms to evaluate and publicly disclose our performance, including the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and The Carbon Disclosure Project. The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is considered the most comparable indicator of transparent energy reduction ambition and energy management performance. This year we were awarded a ‘B’ performance rating.
